LOCATION CHANGE ALERT!! THE PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE WARREN MILLER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (45465 GALLATIN ROAD--AT LONE PEAK HIGH SCHOOL ON US HIGHWAY 191). DOORS OPEN AT 5:30, SHOW IS AT 6.

Join us on Monday, August 7, as we welcome this renowned theater troupe for their annual performance. This year’s selection is Measure for Measure, and the performance is free and open to the public!

Since 1973, MSIP has performed over 2,250 times to nearly three-quarter of a million people becoming a mainstay of Montana culture. The company’s contribution to the cultural fabric of Montana and its unique ability to serve the most remote rural areas of the region has been chronicled by Montana PBS, NBC Nightly News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and many others. In 1991, the company was named the recipient of the Montana Governor’s Award for the Arts, the highest honor that can be bestowed on an arts organization in our state.

The company serves the entire state of Montana as well as communities in the surrounding states of North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho and Washington and has become one of Montana State University’s best known and most effective outreach programs. This is the company’s first time performing Measure for Measure since the year 2000. Categorized by scholars as one of Shakespeare’s “problem plays,” neither neat comedy nor tragedy, audiences will be captivated by the way this play explores themes of power, class dynamics, and justice through a modern and inclusive lens.

This summer, the company will perform in 63 communities across 5 states including Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming, making this summer MSIP’s largest tour to date. Ushering Shakespeare’s immortal stories of life, love, and tragedy into a modern era, MSIP is dedicated to preserving the cultural traditions of theatre and literature through live, free performances every summer across the Rocky Mountain West.
