Open Pottery Studio is available only to participants currently enrolled in a pottery class or to highly experienced ceramicists with their own tools who have been pre-approved by Arts Council of Big Sky management.
Please note: There is no official instruction during Open Pottery Studio. This session is intended for independent practice.
Participants will have access to pottery wheels, hand-building materials, and studio glazes. Pre-registration is required to secure a space.
Clay Policy
Archie Bray A-Clay is the only clay body permitted in the studio. This is a Cone 5/6 white stoneware. Clay may be purchased during class for $30 per 25 lb bag (cash or credit card accepted).
Studio Use Policy
The Base Art Studio is a community pottery studio. Production pottery is not permitted during Open Pottery Studio sessions.
Ceramicists wishing to produce more than 5–10 vessels during the Winter Session may rent kiln shelf space for an additional $30 shelf fee.
