Please join the Arts Council for the second event of the 2023 Music in the Mountains free summer concert season! This week we welcome Kentucky's Joslyn and the Sweet Compression. The show takes place in Len Hill Park in the Big Sky Town Center and is family friendly and free! Food and beverage vendors will be available, and please remember that NO DOGS are allowed into the park during the concerts.
This night is also the annual Soul Shine Event, partnering with the Hungry Moose Market, the Robin and Bertelsen families and Team Gleason to raise awareness for ALS. To learn more about Soul Shine, and to make a donation, click here.
There will be two opening bands tonight, too! Park opens at 6 p.m., with music starting with an acoustic set from Robby Hutto, followed by local sensations Dammit Lauren! at 7 p.m. Joslyn and the Sweet Compression will take the stage at 8:15 p.m.
After cultivating her dynamic voice and performance skills in backup roles and stage plays, Joslyn Hampton teamed with her stepfather, Marty Charters (a touring guitarist and songwriter who has shared the stage with legends such as Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, and Van Morrison), to compose a captivating set of tunes and assemble an ace band. Joslyn & The Sweet Compression (Isaac Stephens - guitar, Smith Donaldson - bass, Rashawn Fleming - drums, Trevin Little - saxophone, and Sam Richardson - Keyboard) combine to deliver a hook-filled mix of funk and soul on their self-titled debut album, released in 2019. A headlining favorite at regional clubs and music festivals, they are poised to engage fans across the country with widespread touring in 2023. We're thrilled to have them in Big Sky for the first time!
Dammit Lauren! is a rock and roll trio formed in the middle of nowhere, Montana. Born out of a love for alt and indie rock, their music combines melody with unconventional chords and driving rhythm, led by Lauren’s distinctive and dynamic vocals. The band focuses on original music, blending their assorted backgrounds for a soulful alternative rock sound that combines rocking jams with pop hooks. The group has opened for several nationally touring acts including Jamestown Revival, Kitchen Dwellers, The Lil' Smokies, and Black River Revue.
This show is sponsored by the Hungry Moose Market.
