In this workshop, participants will learn the process of transferring leaf prints to fabric through the art of botanical printing. Using locally collected plant materials, each participant will create their own unique bandana infused with natural colors and patterns from plants. The workshop explores the relationship between nature, color, and textile design while introducing the basics of natural dyeing and eco-printing techniques.
Clarissa Holmes is a natural dye artist from Hamilton. She has spent the last 10 years abroad exploring and studying natural dye traditions. Through her research and practice, she has developed extensive knowledge of natural dye techniques, plants, and cultural traditions surrounding color. Clarissa has facilitated numerous workshops focused on connecting people with plants, color, and textile sustainability.
All materials and tools are provided, and no prior experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring leaves and plant materials that are meaningful to them to incorporate into their projects.
