Join us at the Big Sky Center for the Arts for a community celebration of Día de Muertos, a Mexican holiday honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed. Through art, storytelling, remembrance, music, food, and the Parade of Catrinas, the celebration creates space for our community to come together.
We’re kicking off our Día de Muertos celebration with a free two-part Cartonería workshop. Create your own Día de Muertos-inspired figure or wearable mask to bring to the November 1st Parade of Catrinas. Choose from a calaca, La Catrina, an alebrije, or a calavera mask, then build and decorate your piece over two sessions.

The altar opens at noon. Bring a photo, favorite food, or flowers to honor a loved one and add to the community altar.
Noon-2pm Ofrenda-making begins and Family Activities.
2-4pm Calaveras Literarias, storytelling, and remembrance circle
4pm Interpretive performance and presentation followed by the Parade of Catrinas. Bring your Catrina from the October workshop or come dressed as a Catrina and join the parade.
5-7pm Fiesta with food, dancing, and music by DJ QueenE.
Noon-7pm
The altar, remembrance stations, and ofrenda-making stations remain open for the community to visit. Local schools will also visit to learn about Día de Muertos and participate in making offerings.
