This workshop taught by Clarissa Holmes focuses on using flowers and food waste to create beautiful homemade inks for paper while exploring simple chemistry techniques to produce several different shades from a single source. Participants will learn how natural materials can be transformed into vibrant pigments and gain a deeper understanding of color, sustainability, and the creative possibilities found in everyday organic materials.

Clarissa Holmes is a natural dye artist from Hamilton. She has spent the last 10 years abroad exploring and studying natural dye traditions. Through her research and practice, she has developed extensive knowledge of natural dye techniques, plants, and cultural traditions surrounding color. Clarissa has facilitated numerous workshops focused on connecting people with plants, color, and textile sustainability.

All materials and tools are provided, and no prior experience is required.
