Instructor: Zach Stephen
Schedule: Mondays, 6:00–8:00 PM
Date: May 4 – June 1, 2026
Duration: 5-week course
Location: BASE Art Studio, 285 Simkins Drive

Beginner and Intermediate potters are invited to join one of our Amazing Ceramics Instructors for this immersive 5-week pottery course. This class caters to multiple ability levels with mixed methods including handbuilding and wheel throwing, and follows a student-led approach to ceramics.

Those new to pottery will learn the basics of wheel throwing, handbuilding, decorative treatments, and glazing. More experienced potters can refine their craft and expand their existing skills with guidance from an expert ceramic artist. With a small class size of eight students maximum, participants receive whole-group instruction as well as one-on-one guidance. This class is open to students ages 11 and up.

All materials and equipment are provided, though participants are welcome to use their own tools if desired. Students in this class also gain access to weekly Open Studio sessions. Participants must pre-register for Open Studio at a cost of $20 to secure a space. English and Spanish language instruction is available.

If you anticipate being absent for more than one class during the session, please consider registering for a different class or a future session. Only one class may be made up due to illness or extenuating circumstances. There is an additional fee for ceramicists wishing to throw or build more than five vessels during the 5-week class.

In addition to the class fee, a $30 shelf fee will be charged if you wish to exceed this limit. Additional clay is available for purchase at $30 per bag. Participants in Arts Council of Big Sky classes do not need a BASE pass to enroll.

Any class payments above the suggested class fee (Take a Class/Give a Class, Help a Neighbor, Sponsor Materials) are tax deductible and will be acknowledged via email for tax purposes.
