Beginner & Intermediate Pottery – 10-Week Course
Instructor: Sierra Hooge
Schedule: Sundays, 6:00–8:00 PM
Dates: January 11 – March 15, 2026
Duration: 10 weeks
Location: Base Art Studio
Beginner and intermediate potters ages 11 and up are invited to join Sierra Hooge for this immersive 10-week pottery course. Designed for all ability levels, this class takes a student-led approach to ceramics using mixed methods, including hand-building and wheel-throwing.
Students new to pottery will learn the fundamentals of wheel-throwing, hand-building, decorative treatments, and glazing. More experienced potters can refine their skills and expand their existing practice with guidance from an expert ceramic artist.
With a small class size (maximum of 8 students), participants receive both whole-group instruction and one-on-one guidance.
All materials and equipment are provided. Students are welcome to bring their own tools if desired. Participants also gain access to weekly Open Studio sessions. Pre-registration is required, with a $20 fee to reserve a space.
English and Spanish instruction available.
If you expect to miss more than two classes during the session, we recommend registering for a different or future class. Only two make-up classes are allowed due to illness or extenuating circumstances.
Students who wish to create more than 10 vessels during the course will be charged a $30 shelf fee. Additional clay is available for purchase at $30 per bag.
A BASE pass is not required to enroll in Arts Council of Big Sky classes.
Any payments above the suggested class fee (Take a Class/Give a Class, Help a Neighbor, Sponsor Materials) are tax deductible and will be acknowledged via email for tax purposes.
