Ages: 11–17
Beginner and intermediate middle and high school students are invited to explore ceramics in this 10-week pottery course with Amy Gitchell. Students will work with both hand-building and wheel-throwing while developing their skills through a student-led approach to ceramics.
Students new to pottery will learn the basics of wheel-throwing, hand-building, decorative techniques, and glazing. Experienced students can build on their existing skills with guidance from an experienced ceramic artist. With a maximum of eight students, the class offers both group instruction and one-on-one guidance.
All materials and equipment are provided, though students are welcome to bring their own tools. Participants also have access to weekly open studio sessions and may register separately for open studio for $20.
Participants must pre-register. Please note that only two classes may be made up due to illness or extenuating circumstances.
Additional fees apply for students who wish to create more than 10 vessels during the session.
Participants in Arts Council of Big Sky classes do not need a BASE pass to register.
Any class payments above the suggested class fee (Take a Class/Give a Class, Help a Neighbor, Sponsor Materials) are tax deductible and will be acknowledged via email for tax purposes.
