Beginner & Intermediate Pottery with Zach Stephens

Join Zach Stephens for an immersive 5-week pottery course designed for beginner and intermediate potters. This class caters to all skill levels and combines hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques in a student-led approach to ceramics.

  • For Beginners: Learn the fundamentals of wheel-throwing, hand-building, decorative treatments, and glazing.
  • For Experienced Potters: Refine your techniques and expand your skill set with personalized guidance from an expert ceramic artist.

Class Details:

  • Small Class Size: With a maximum of 8 students, you'll receive both group instruction and individualized support.
  • Ages: This class is open to students ages 11 and up.
  • Materials & Equipment: All materials and tools are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own tools if preferred.
  • Weekly Open Studio: Participants have access to weekly Open Studio sessions for additional practice. Pre-registration is required at $20 per session to secure your spot.
  • Language Options: Instruction is available in both English and Spanish.

Additional Information:

  • Attendance Policy: If you are unable to attend more than one class, please consider registering for a future session. Only one make-up class is allowed due to illness or extenuating circumstances.
  • Vessel Limit: Participants may throw or build up to 5 vessels during the 5-week course. If you wish to exceed this limit, a $30 shelf fee will apply. Additional clay is available for purchase at $30 per bag.

  • Class Fee: $290/Contribute-What-You-Can
  • Additional Fees: Shelf fee for extra vessels, clay purchase, and Open Studio sessions as outlined above.

Important Notes:

  • No BASE pass required: You do not need a BASE pass to sign up for Arts Council of Big Sky classes.
  • Tax-Deductible Contributions: Any payments above the suggested class fee (e.g., Take a Class/Give a Class, Help a Neighbor, Sponsor Materials) are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged via email for tax purposes.
