The Bravo! Big Sky Music Festival - formerly the Big Sky Classical Music Festival - is a two-day festival for people of all ages. This annual event showcases the best in classical and jazz from around the world during a free outdoor performance in Big Sky's Town Center Plaza and one ticketed indoor concert at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center.
As on of the only music festivals in the region to feature classical music, it is essential to raising cultural awareness and promoting classical music in Montana and beyond.
Orchestra Maestro Peter Bay, has led the Austin Symphony for more than twenty years, developing the orchestra into one of the prime cultural assets of Central Texas and contributing to Austin’s growth as an economic powerhouse and a major entertainment destination in the past two decades. Maestro Bay has appeared with seventy-five different orchestras around the world, has a number of recordings, and brings this vast experience to Big Sky as a charismatic and exciting leader.
Juilliard-trained violinist Angella Ahn brings a depth of artistry to the Big Sky Classical Music Festival that few can rival. She is Montana State University professor of Violin and Viola and lives in Bozeman when not traveling with her sisters Lucia (piano) and Maria (cello) as the accomplished Ahn Trio. The trio has performed music composed for them by Pat Metheny, Michael Nyman, Maurice Jarre, Mark O’Connor, and DJ Spooky. Between teaching and touring, she has performed around the world with many diverse musicians – including Emmylou Harris, Phil Aaberg and John Prine – and at high profile events like TED, the iTunes Festival, and for President and First Lady Obama at the 2011 State Dinner.
