Arts Education

In 2016, we launched our ARTventure initiative, a program designed to provide Big Sky students with the opportunity to learn about careers related to the arts, to explore thriving art-centric urban areas, and to use experiences in the arts as a way to cultivate creativity and critical thinking skills.

Discover Dance
In partnership with Montana Ballet Company, we bring their Discover Dance outreach program to Big Sky students in conjunction with our annual presentation of the Nutcracker. Local second graders learn about classical ballet, music, and theater etiquette while engaging with professional dancers.

Classical Music Festival Master Classes
Each year, during our Classical Music Festival, we invite Montana State University’s strings camp participants – high schoolers from around the world – to learn from our distinguished visiting musicians. The classes are open to the public for observation, giving attendees a behind-the-scenes peek at professional musicians at work.

Through a new relationship with Telluride’s Mountainfilm Festival, we bring the Mountainfilm on Tour to Big Sky. Last September, we presented to a sell-out crowd. We also presented films to K-12 students to introduce them to the art of filmmaking and inspire them to make the world a better place. We are excited to continue to grow this program in the coming years.

Art Workshops
Periodically throughout the year, we host workshops for artists of all skill levels to hone their craft.

As a presenting organization, we’ve used numerous other venues around town, including the Big Sky Chapel, Buck’s T-4 Lodge, Lone Mountain Ranch, Big Sky Resort and many others.
